Looking toward the New Year

I’ve got some news to share today.

Let me get the less exciting news out of the way first.

I’ve closed the BrambleFae Boutique Etsy shop.  This has been a long time coming, folks so don’t be too sad-I’m not. I have loved every single thing I’ve made for you folks over the years, and I will continue to be available for commissions, but that’s gonna be it, I think. I will keep the Facebook page open and of course y’all can hit me up on twitter anytime. 🙂

Over the last couple of years, I’ve been fighting with the fact that my wrists are not up for the wire work like they used to be and as I did a few holiday commissions this year, I realize I just can’t ignore that.  This was definitely a factor when I decided to turn my skills toward cosmetics.

Speaking of which (*grin*), I have a new, limited time polish in the BeeFae Etsy shop!

Tinsel and Lights is a green holo nail polish that I initially made for myself, but I love it a lot, so I wanted to share it. 🙂 It is *way* more sparkly and glittery than the pics show (Check out the video on my Insta for a slightly better look!)

I know I’ll be wearing it till well into the new year. 😀

Speaking of the new year (I’m all about boring segue-ways today, folks. :p ), there is so much coming from me. So much. First-instead of monthly polish pairs, in 2018, I’ll be releasing birthstone inspired polishes on the first of every month! I’ll unveil January’s in the next couple of weeks. 🙂 There will be a full polish line in March, but sometime before that I’ll be releasing a special pair that I’ve been working on. 🙂

I’ll also be releasing a few eye shadows, probably in the spring. 🙂  And I’m about to begin working with scents, so maybe in the later part of 2018, I’ll release a roll on or solid scent or two. ❤

2018 is the year to remind yourself to feel fabulous, and if you’re into cosmetics, I will be here to help you out.

Peace, folks. I’ll see y’all soon.

Time for some news!

I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of 2017. I know I am definitely looking forward to what the new year will bring.

The last year has been a time of change for me in a lot of ways, as I’m sure it has been for a lot of you.  The biggest bit of change for me was the end of the relatively long running Enchanted Lakes Ren Faire, which was my home faire, and biggest event for Bramblefae Boutique.  I’ll admit that I spent a few months adrift, creatively.

In November, I helped open a boutique-style shop in my town called Sassafras & Sage, and with that, I remembered how much I love creating things, and now I’m overflowing with creativity, ideas and new things.

Which leads us to the first bit of news-I’ll be updating the Etsy shop over the next week with some new things I’ve been working on. Working in the shop has structured my time in such a way that I am able to work on projects “of my heart”, basically. The kind of creative whimsy that drew me to jewelry design in the first place.

This current bit, the stuff I’ll be adding over the next week, is pretty themed.

Out of the Sea, from whence I came will encompass a handful of one of a kind pieces, some can be considered every day pieces, but some, like this crown, are a lot more special occasion whimsy (Although, it’d make me super happy for someone to make this an every day crown! 😀 ). These will get their own post after I’ve gotten some pictures taken and gotten everything posted to Etsy.

While I am looking forward to doing more one of a kind pieces, I also want to make it very clear that I am still very open for commissions and custom work.  ANYTHING you see in my Etsy shop, or my Instagram photos or on Pinterest even, I would be happy to help create something truly unique for you.  Commissions and custom work are some of my favorite things because I love helping you folks have a creative hand in something that you’ll treasure.

The last bit of news that I have right now is that I am probably going to phase out the Bramblefae Boutique Facebook page.  Over the last year it has kinda shown itself to, basically, be more trouble than it’s worth for me. 🙂 I have a far better response on Twitter and Insta, and I feel more like I’m building/ being a part of a community in those places.  So, please, if you don’t already, give me a follow on Twitter or Instagram, I’m bramblefae pretty much everywhere. 🙂

In the next month or so, I’ll have some more news to share with you folks. I’m not ready to talk about it yet, but I am really excited about this possibility, so look forward to that as well!

I hope all of you have years full of wonder and love and I look forward to sharing some of my wonder and love with you all. ❤

Grab bags are fun!

I’ve got a handful of grab bags on the Etsy shop! Basically, now that faire is over, I’ve got a surplus of items. These are not seconds, or bargain bin pieces-they’re just the kinds of things that are more easily reproduced, so they won’t stand out as much in the shop. Yet they’re not quite so easily reproduced that I could offer them in quantity, mostly because they’re made from things I no longer have on hand.

Actual grab bag items!

Basically, the goal was to make sure each 10 dollar bag had at least 20 dollars worth of jewelry (most ended up closer to 30), and each 20 dollar bag had at least 40 dollars worth of jewelry (again, most had more than that!).  This way, ya’ll get a massive bargain, and I get room to make more things, and the money to get myself a little closer toward getting a small kiln. 😀

7/3 EDIT: I’ll be taking the grab bags down on Monday July 6th! If you want one, grab it before then! 😀

Enchanted Lakes Renaissance Faire

For the third year in a row, Bramblefae Boutique was at the Enchanted Lakes Renaissance Faire and Marketplace, and as always, it was a wonderful, great time! I was set up near the pub, same as the last couple of years, although my booth faced toward the pub, instead of toward the lake (thanks to some pretty torrential rainfall the day before.), and I got to see and talk to A LOT of people.

Not too shabby, yeah?
Not too shabby, yeah?

This is the first year that I did not sell the elf ears off my head, but I did make a pair on the fly for someone who lamented that a pair they’d been eyeing was gone when they got back. Maybe I’m a dork, but I really do enjoy doing commissions and custom work. For the first time, I was pretty happy with my booth set up, although I can tell that I will need to add another 6 foot table to the mix before I do any more events.  I’ve also, thanks to Pinterest (ha!), really gotten a handle on displays. I had several folks ask if I would make my “Illuminated manuscript” ring displays for sale, which made me laugh.

You can see my "manuscript" display past all the parts and pieces. :D

It’s one of my favorite times of year, but now that it’s done, I’m looking forward. Next week, the shop will be back open, I will be taking custom orders again, and I will be blogging more regularly. 😀  Till then, folks!

A different kind of commission

I recently had a pretty big commission for a thing I can’t show ya’ll yet. I had a stone left over from it and my 15 year old came to me and said, “If you’re not gonna use that one, can you make me a pendant?”  He’d never asked me to make him anything before, so of course I said yes.

It’s just a simple bit of wrap to hold the stone in place. He wears it pretty much every day. 😀

This one is mine!

I don’t often make myself jewelry, oddly enough.  When I go out, I’ll often grab pieces from my stock-rings or pendants or what-have-you-but rarely do I make something specifically for myself.

I ordered a piece of Icelandic Spar for my husband, and with it, they sent a decent sized chunk of fluorite. I love it a lot! So, I made it into a pendant. 🙂

Pretty pretty fluorite.

I wrapped it in rose gold Parawire, and put it on a length of suede and I wear it all the time, it seems!

New year, new things

Like this blog!

It’s going to have a bit of a slow start, probably, as I work out the format and the kinds of things I want to share with folks. 🙂

Things you should know at the beginning, though:

~It’ll mostly pertain to jewelry (especially my own pieces. 🙂 )

~I think I’m funnier than I am, maybe.

~I can’t promise I’ll post with any sort of regularity. One hopes, but still.

~I will overuse smilies.

*claps hands together brisky* Ok! Let’s see how this goes, yes? 😀
