New Stuff

A look at some of the Summer 2016 Items

Now that the Etsy store is up and going again, I took the time to put together a little “video lookbook” of some of the summer items.

As always, if you see something you like, but would love it in a different size, or color or what have you, just let me know!

(And here’s a small reminder to my Canadian friends-I cannot ship to Canada until the Canada Post strike is settled. But as soon as it is, I will be back to shipping up there like I always have! )

More previews!

This Friday, the Etsy shop will be opened once again!

I’ve been working on, instead of making pendants and calling it done, making whole necklaces, complete with handmade clasps and whatnot. I’m using lots of stones and beads that I’ve had for AGES.  This one looks like turqouise but it’s actually a type of dyed marble. It’s really a lovely stone.

Of course, Ears!

I don’t have a ton of ears ready at this point (As usual, most of them went to new homes during the faire!), but I do have a few pairs. 🙂

Most of this week will be spent getting all the listings ready, so that on Friday all I have to do is flip the switch, so to speak.  I am very proud and excited about getting the shop back open and I hope ya’ll are too.

New Stuff

Preview of things to come!

The Bramblefae Etsy shop will open back up in a little over a week. *throws confetti* I’m excited because I get to show ya’ll some of the new things I’ve been working on, so between now and then, as I take photos, I thought I’d share some with ya’ll!

Since I was young, I have always loved the look of handpieces.  I’ve made several over the last few months and I want to put this one in the shop because I love it very much.  The ring is adjustable and the bracelet part is open so that it can be a bit adjustable, too.

In keeping with both copper and bracelets, I offer this one too.  It’s a very simple design, and that’s just an opaque glass bead, but I love this one too. So much so that I very nearly didn’t put it up for sale. 🙂

My big goal for the second half of 2016 is to offer a lot of variety. I’m going to introduce some new types of things and try to keep a wide range of sizes. I’ve also decided to focus on adjustable items where I can, to make it easier for folks to find the right piece for them. 🙂

Come back tomorrow for some more new stuff! 🙂

Bramblefae Commissions

A commission that isn’t jewelry!

I think this is the first time I’ve been commissioned to do a wire piece that isn’t jewelry. (And it’s not really a commission, more of an art trade. 🙂 )

She wanted two foxes, and after some very very basic sketching, I got her approval and went to work. 😀

I took that fabric (Which is actually a deeper version of that blue/teal color. Sorry for the terrible photo. ) and adhered it to card stock, then attached the foxes to it in this way, so that it can be framed when the recipient gets it! 😀  This was kind of nerve wracking for me, but I’m happy with how it turned out.  I really like commissions that take me outside my comfort zone. 🙂

Fan Art

On being a fan

Aside from making jewelry, I am kind of a nerd. This nerdiness is, in large part, responsible for Bramblefae Boutique.  If I’d never developed my love for elves and faeries, I would never have wanted a pair of elf ears that didn’t use spirit gum.  Would I have come to jewelry design from some other way? Maybe, but I am pretty content with the way things have gone and are going. 🙂

At any rate, back in November, a video game came out.  Not just any game, but the third installment of the Dragon Age series, Inquisition.  I could write a blog post about my love for this world, but that can wait. The short version is that I fell in love with an elf in that game (This shocks no one who knows me.). This particular elf, called Solas, wears part of a wolf’s jawbone as a necklace.

I’ve done different sorts of fan art before, writing and drawing, but I’d never tried to make a piece of game inspired jewelry.  So, after some poking and prodding at wire, a few incantations (not really) and some assorted curse words, I came up with a stylized version of Solas’ necklace.

It’s been pretty popular, and yesterday, it was featured on the Dragon Age website as a part of their ongoing series “Fanquisition”.

I tried to write a post about it last night, but I was pretty excited, and very flighty. 🙂  This is all very cool and inspiring to me, to be honest.

Before Christmas, I was very frustrated with the business and with myself. I won’t go into it, but there was a lot of self doubt. 🙂  This experience, though, has shown me that this really *is* what I need to be doing, and it’s made me a little more fearless about 1)trying new things with regards to jewelry and 2)showing my ideas to folks. 🙂

So, thank you folks, seriously. Thank you. And keep watching because there will be many cool things coming your way from me this year. 🙂
